Italian journalist Paolo Condo believes that if Inter were to sign Franck Kessie from Barcelona, the Ivorian would be an alternative in Nicolo Barella’s position.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, Condo gave the view that a possible swap deal involving Kessie and Marcelo Brozovic could be beneficial in terms of realizing capital gains, and analyzed what the former’s role would be in the Nerazzurri.

Kessie’s name has been heavily linked to Inter in Italian and Spanish media in recent days.

The reports suggest that if the Nerazzurri are keen to sign the 25-year-old then they would have to sacrifice Marcelo Brozovic to get him.

However, a swap deal involving the two players would not exactly be a like-for-like exchange positionally speaking.

Former AC Milan midfielder Kessie would bring different qualities to the Nerazzurri’s midfield than Brozovic rather than taking the place of the Croat directly.

“I think that the basis for the idea of an exchange between Kessie and Brozovic would be the capital gains that both clubs could realize,” the journalist said.

“As far as Inzaghi’s football, I would see Kessie as an alternative to Nicolo Barella at Inter,” he continued.

“It would be a swap deal that has its advantages for Inter.”
