Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic will not be in the Nerazzurri’s squad for this evening’s Supercoppa Italiana through a calf injury, and not due to the transfer links to Barcelona.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInter1908, who report that the rumours linking the 30-year-old to the Blaugranas have absolutely nothing to do with the his absence from Inter’s squad this evening.

Brozovic has missed out on Inter’s four matches played so far since the return from the winter break.

The Croat has been recovering from a calf problem, and whilst he had been aiming to potentially be fit and available for this evening’s match against the Rossoneri, it does not look as though he will be ready in time.

In the meantime, Brozovic’s name has been linked with Barcelona as part of a prospective swap deal for midfielder Franck Kessie in reports that have emerged over the past few days.

However, according to La Repubblica, these transfer rumours have absolutely nothing to do with the fact that the 30-year-old will not play against Milan this evening.
