Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni feels that for the moment it’s not the right time to discuss his contract extension situation at the Nerazzurri.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset, via FCInterNews, after the Nerazzurri’s win over AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana, via FCInterNews, the 23-year-old emphasized that, at the moment, there will still be plenty of time to attend to his deal which runs out at the end of June 2024.

Bastoni and his teammates will be focused on celebrating their 3-0 win over city rivals the Rossoneri, and then on the immediate return to work where they face a gruelling fixture list across Serie A, the Coppa Italia, and the Supercoppa Italiana.

This does not mean that the situations off of the pitch have gone away, by any means, including the contract situations of some key players.

Bastoni is one such player, as the 23-year-old’s current deal is set to run out at the end of next season.

As far as the player is concerned, however, it is hardly a pressing matter, and he feels that he and the club will be able to deal with it in due time well before things come to a head.

“It’s still a year and a half away,” the defender noted, “there are other players who will have to extend before I do.”

“I’m happy here, and then when it comes time to deal with my situation we’ll see what we decide to do.”

And of beating Milan after the Rossoneri’s Serie A title celebrations last season, Bastoni admitted that “We were really hungry to win against them, we hadn’t forgotten about their celebrations.”

“We kept them quiet and put all our anger out onto the pitch,” he added.

“We did well to interpret the match, and made clear to them that it wasn’t going to be their day.”

“Even after Verona I said that this match could be fundamental for us on an emotional level, if we can win here it means that we can go on and beat anyone,” Bastoni argued.
