Inter midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu feels that the Nerazzurri showed all of their hunger and desire to emphatically beat city rivals AC Milan 3-0 in the Supercoppa Italiana.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the 28-year-old stressed that the match was virtually over as a contest before it had even had a chance to begin.

Calhanoglu and his teammates will have had extra motivation going into yesterday evening’s match, on top of the fact that it was for the Supercoppa and it was a derby clash.

The Nerazzurri narrowly lost out on the Serie A title to the Rossoneri last season, and the sense of bitterness was only deepened with some of their city rivals’ celebrations after getting their hands on the Scudetto.

Calhanoglu perhaps felt this more deeply than most, as he is a former Milan player, and so the Turk was not shy about expressing his feelings after defeating the Rossoneri yesterday evening.

“You could already see before the match that we were hungry to win, and I think that we just went out and gobbled them up,” the midfielder said.

“We wrapped it up with 3-0 and everyone could go home, it was hardly a match,” he continued.

“Certainly from now on our goal will be to keep winning and showing the same hunger that we did tonight,” Calhanoglu said.

“We always want to win trophies, now we have to focus on what awaits us in the league.”

“We know it won’t be easy, but we’ll believe in it right until the end,” he concluded.
