Inter want to get a new contract agreed with striker Edin Dzeko as soon as possible.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that the Nerazzurri are keen not to waste any time in wrapping up negotiations with the Bosnian, who has only further established himself as a key player for Simone Inzaghi’s side on the pitch.

Dzeko certainly underlined his importance to Inter with his imperious display to help the team to defeat city rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana yesterday evening.

The player joked after the match that, with the way that he is playing, he could hardly be any older then 22 years old.

There is some truth behind the joking remarks, however, as from the Nerazzurri’s standpoint, the continued outstanding performances that the former Roma and Manchester City striker has been putting in have convinced them to make his contract extension a priority.

The Nerazzurri don’t want to let the situation get drawn out for much longer, as the Gazzetta notes that with each passing performance where the player proves himself to still be at the top level, the dynamic of the negotiations changes and not necessarily in the club’s favour.

Accordingly, the Gazzetta reports, the Nerazzurri want to speed up the process of agreeing a new deal with the Bosnian.
