Inter wingback Federico Dimarco feels that his Nerazzurri teammate Hakan Calhanoglu is deserving of yesterday evening’s Supercoppa Italiana win over his former side AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster SportMediaset after the match, via FCInterNews, the 25-year-old gave his reaction to the match, which saw the Nerazzurri prevail 3-0 and then midfielder Calhanoglu remark that the Nerazzurri had “gobbled up” the Rossoneri.

Calhanoglu could have more reason than most to have wanted to get a decisive win over Milan yesterday evening.

The Turk had made the move from the Rossoneri to join Inter in the summer of 2021, and he had to watch as his former side narrowly pipped the Nerazzurri to the Serie A title last season.

However, all of Inter got some measure of revenge yesterday evening by emphatically beating their city rivals by a 3-0 scoreline, and Calhanoglu did not hold back regarding the emotional impact of the victory.

Asked about the midfielder’s remarks, Dimarco replied that “He deserves it, he definitely wasn’t happy about how things went, just like all of us were.”

“But now we’re able to enjoy this win,” he continued.

Of scoring the opener in the 3-0 win, Dimarco said that “It was an indescribable feeling, scoring in a Supercoppa derby is brilliant.”

“Since we left Milan we’ve had a strong desire to win, we showed it on the pitch and we deserved it.”

And of the return to the Serie A title race against Napoli, Dimarco said that “Let’s take it one match at a time and then see how the season ends.”
