Italian journalist Paolo Condo feels that Inter striker duo Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko are finally starting to show chemistry in attack for the Nerazzurri.

Writing in his column published in yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, the journalist praised the two strikers for operating effectively together in yesterday’s Supercoppa Italiana win over AC Milan.

When Dzeko joined Inter from Roma in the summer of 2021, he was expected to form the first-choice attacking duo with Martinez.

The two strikers did indeed start the majority of the Nerazzurri’s matches together in the Bosnian’s first season at the club, but it was widely considered that they did not operate as well together as Martinez and Romelu Lukaku had in the previous couple of seasons.

However, this time around something looks to have clicked for the two strikers.

Dzeko and Martinez put in a shift against the Rossoneri, working in tandem to lead their team’s defensive effort from the front and always looking like an outlet, with Milan defender Fiyako Tomori in particularly given a torrid evening.

This is only the latest good performance from the two Inter strikers this season, not just individually but as a real partnership, and Condo feels that they have definitively improved compared to last season.

The journalist assessed the Nerazzurri’s performance, writing that “The Supercoppa is just a one-off title, but there are grounds for the momentum to keep going.”

“Barella has definitely returned to his peak level, Dzeko and Lautaro have figured out how to play together after a partnership that looked more laboured last season,” he continues.

Condo goes on that “Dimarco is looking more like the ideal attacking wingback on the left, and the defense has started functioning again after some recent slip-ups.”
