There is still a significant gap to be made up in Inter’s contract extension talks with striker Edin Dzeko.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazurri do not want to offer over €3 million net per season, whilst the 36-year-old is hoping for at least €4 million.

There is little doubt that, while Inter are very keen to extend Dzeko’s deal past the end of June when it currently expires, they do not want it to be at close to the €5.5 million net per season that the former Roma and Manchester City striker currently earns.

According to the Corriere, the Bosnian is aware that he will have to take a pay cut to stay at Inter past the end of the current season.

However, the player is still hoping for a minimum of €4 million net per season in order to sign extension.

Accordingly, the newspaper reports, whilst there is a real desire on both sides of the table to agree a new deal, there is also work to be done in agreeing on financial terms.
