Inter have decided to retain midfielder Giovanni Fabbian and give him a place in the first team squad next season after his impressing displays on loan at Reggina.

According to Tuttosport.com, the 20-year-old will remain under coach Simone Inzaghi and be made available for Serie A, taking the place of Roberto Gagliardini in the Nerazzurri’s squad.

Gagliardini is out of contract at Inter at the end of the season and is expected to depart in search of more playing time, and instead of signing a new player to replace him, the Nerazzurri are ready to put their trust in Fabbian.

The former Padova Primavera talent has excelled in Serie B under Inzaghi’s brother, Filippo, as Reggina sit in second place, and he has netted seven goals in 21 appearances.

Fabbian scored twice in Reggina’s 2-1 win over Ternana earlier today, and his step up to Inter’s first team is part of a wider plan to push through more young talent and reduce operational costs on more established players.
