Legendary former Inter goalkeeper Walter Zenga feels that it shouldn’t come as any surprise that the Nerazzurri played as well as they did in their 3-0 Supercoppa Italiana thrashing of AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TMW Radio, via FCInterNews, the former keeper also suggested that as a fan, he would rather focus on the matches ahead rather than get preoccupied with the contract situation of defender Milan Skriniar.

If most will have predicted that Inter and Milan’s Supercoppa Italiana clash this week would have been a tightly-contested affair, the scoreline certainly told a different story.

Moreover, the 3-0 scoreline was hardly an unfair reflection of the run of play, as the Rossoneri created very few telling chances whilst the Nerazzurri seemed to carve their city rivals open at will.

As far as Zenga is concerned, however, this was only to be expected given the quality that the Nerazzurri have shown in their recent run of form.

“The way that the team performed wasn’t a surprise to me,” he said, “we have to remember that they came off the back of winning eight of their last ten matches.”

The former keeper also addressed the situation with Skriniar, stating that “It’s not a question that I really have the ability to weigh in on, as a fan I’m just focused on Empoli, we have to follow up the excellent performance that the team put in in Riyadh.”
