Inter striker Romelu Lukaku has stepped up his comeback from injury and could be available against Empoli on Monday, whilst Joaquin Correa may be in line to start.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, Belgium international Lukaku has returned to full group training after suffering an injury earlier this month, and the possibility of him seeing some game time in the Serie A clash on Monday is increasing.

The Chelsea loanee was included in the squad in Riyadh on Wednesday, as Inter thrashed AC Milan 3-0 to lift the Supercoppa Italiana, but was not deemed fit enough to be involved.

Whilst he is not expected to start the match at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza on Monday evening, he could feature from the bench.

Elsewhere, fellow forward Correa may be afforded a rare start and could come in for one of Edin Dzeko and Lautaro Martinez.

Goalkeeper Samir Handanovic and midfielder Marcelo Brozovic continued to train separately yesterday but are closing in on a return to fitness, and will join group training next week.
