Inter have no intention of making a move for Roma defender Chris Smalling or Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini, according to Italian journalist Ivan Zazzaroni.

The Nerazzurri had been linked with the two defenders as replacements for Milan Skriniar and Stefan De Vrij, with both set to be out of contract at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza this summer.

However, in an interview with Italian radio station Radio Deejay earlier today, and as reported by FCInter1908.it, Zazzaroni refuted suggestions that Inter were keen on Englishman Smalling, or ready to submit an offer for Atalanta teenager Scalvini.

“Inter are not interested in Smalling and Scalvini, I can confirm. On Smalling they told me 100% no, indeed 101%,” Zazzaroni declared.

Former Manchester United defender Smalling is approaching the end of his contract at Roma, and whilst he has an option to trigger an extension, is yet to commit his future at the Giallorossi yet.

Meanwhile, Scalvini has caught the eye at Atalanta, with the 19-year-old already breaking into the Italian national team under coach Roberto Mancini.
