Inter wingback Robin Gosens could be handed a starting berth for Monday’s Serie A clash against Empoli at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the German is likely to feature on the left flank against the Azzurri, with Denzel Dumfries taking up the same position on the right.

With Marcelo Brozovic still working his way back to full fitness after suffering an injury at the 2022 FIFA World Cup with Croatia, Kristjan Asllani will start the game in midfield against his former club, alongside Nicolo Barella.

Brozovic will resume group training this week with a view to being available for the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan on 5 February, whilst Barella will play against Empoli and be rested against Cremonese next week to avoid collecting the booking that would see him banned for the derby.

Elsewhere, Joaquin Correa may be handed a start in attack, whilst Romelu Lukaku is expected to be fit enough to make an appearance from the bench after his recent injury.
