Inter striker Edin Dzeko has shown the leadership and strength of character to earn a new contract with the club, as his existing deal enters it’s final six months.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are considering offering the veteran striker a new deal to ensure he remains at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza beyond the end of the season, and his leadership is considered to be a factor in this.

Dzeko is considered to be a highly influential member of Simone Inzaghi’s squad, with the 36-year-old calling upon experience of leading the line for Wolfsburg, Manchester City, and Roma with great success.

His influence is likened to that of Zlatan Ibrahimovic at AC Milan, with the Bosnia and Herzegovina international able to guide some of Inter’s younger squad members, whilst also making a significant impact on the pitch.

Meanwhile, the newspaper argues that Dzeko offers the target man presence of a No. 9, whilst also having the grace and technique to operate as a No. 10, in the same manner as Real Madrid’s Karim Benzema.

Inter are set to weigh up a new contract for him, in addition to considering whether to bring Romelu Lukaku back next season after his loan from Chelsea.
