Former AC Milan defender Massimo Oddo was impressed with Inter during their 3-0 win over the Rossoneri in the Supercoppa Italiana last week.

Simone Inzaghi’s side were comprehensive victors at the King Fahd Stadium in Riyadh on Wednesday, with goals from Federico Dimarco, Edin Dzeko, and Lautaro Martinez securing the trophy for the Nerazzurri.

In an interview published in yesterday’s newspaper edition of Tuttosport, former Lazio fullback Oddo felt that Inter had shown better determination and were worthy winners against Milan.

“I saw a more convinced Inter on the pitch, an Inter that were more of team than Milan, with more desire to win,” the ex-Padova and Pescara coach claimed.

Milan are set to face Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico in Serie A on Tuesday, and Oddo felt that the Rossoneri were coming into the match in poor form, particular after the defeat to Inter last week, but there was no reason to panic.

“I wouldn’t dramatise everything. It’s normal for there to be a moment of decline. There was a World Cup where Theo and Giroud went all the way.

This non-exciting moment coincides with two or three negative results, with a trophy that Milan were unable to win and everything is a little more amplified. I believe that Milan have the possibility of continuing their path which has been extraordinary, beyond the wildest expectations.

“It’s easy to point the finger today. Milan have embraced a young project.

“When you win the Scudetto, the bar is raised and something more is always expected. But questioning the Milan project, its directors, the coach and the players is a big mistake. It’s not easy to raise Milan’s level, to strengthen the team even in the context in which Italian football lives.”

Oddo made 172 appearances for Lazio from 2002 until 2006, when he joined Milan and represented the Rossoneri 79 times until 2011, having spent the 2008-09 season on loan at Bayern Munich.
