With Milan Skriniar closing in on a move to Paris Saint-Germain, Inter are set to focus their attention on rebuilding their defence, with Atalanta’s Giorgio Scalvini a target.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Nerazzurri are expecting to lose Skriniar on a free transfer in the summer, but there is concern about other members of the backline, with Stefan De Vrij also reaching the end of his contract.

Francesco Acerbi’s loan move from Lazio is yet to be converted into a permanent transfer, whilst Alessandro Bastoni only has 18 months remaining on his deal and Inter are wary of facing another Skriniar situation with him.

Inter’s first choice to replace Skriniar is Atalanta teenager Scalvini, but they may also turn to a more affordable option in Udinese’s Rodrigo Becao, particularly as his contract expires in 2024.

The Nerazzurri have also been considered Ligue 1-based players, with Lyon’s Castello Lukeba and Lille defender Tiago Djalo amongst those linked with a move to the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

Having tracked him last summer, it is thought that Inter may revisit a move for Chelsea defender Trevor Chalobah, whilst Torino centre-back Perr Schuurs is being targeted as a potential replacement for De Vrij.
