Inter midfielder Kristjan Asllani is in the frame to face former club Empoli from the start, when the two teams meet at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza tomorrow evening.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere dello Sport, the Albania international will be given an opportunity in Simone Inzaghi’s team for the visit of his former teammates in the Serie A clash.

The coach is weighing up his options after a tiring week in which Inter travelled to Saudi Arabia to lift the Supercoppa Italiana with a 3-0 win over AC Milan, and Asllani’s presence could give Hakan Calhanoglu the chance to rest.

Stefan De Vrij is expected to return to the heart of defence, alongside Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni, whilst the right wingback position is set to be occupied by Denzel Dumfries, with Federico Dimarco on the other flank.

Alongside Asllani, Nicolo Barella and Henrikh Mkhitaryan will complete the midfield, behind an attack of Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko.
