Inter are working to try and extend defender Stefan de Vrij’s contract by offering the 30-year-old a new two-year contract.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri have put a two-year contract offer at the same wages that the player earns on the table.

Inter are hoping not to lose de Vrij on a free transfer when the Dutchman’s current contract runs out at the end of June.

Contract talks are now well underway between the Nerazzurri and the former Lazio and Feyenoord player’s representatives, with the player’s agent Federico Pastorello having stated yesterday that the club are working to accelerate the negotiations.

According to the Corriere, the offer on the table is a two-year contract extension for until the end of June 2025.

De Vrij currently earns around €3.8 million net per season, and his wages would stay the same on the new deal being offered.
