Inter midfielder Henrikh Mkhitarayan has been expected by many to decline due to his age, but instead has found himself more important for the Nerazzurri than ever.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908, who highlight how, just as he turns 34, the Armenian is currently playing some of his most impressive football since his move to join Inter in the summer.

When Mkhitaryan joined Inter on a free transfer from Roma during the summer transfer window, there was little doubt regarding the former Arsenal, Manchester United, and Borussia Dortmund man’s experience or quality.

However, the worries that did exist around the midfielder concerned the fact that the Nerazzurri were committing to signing him in his mid-30s, a period where it is common for players’ fitness and form to begin to drop off.

However, there has been little evidence of this as the Armenian has been one of Inter’s most reliable performers this season, and at 34 he showed few signs of slowing down.
