The agent of Inter defender Stefan de Vrij has confirmed that the Nerazzurri are keen to get moving on contract extension negotiations with the Dutchman.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster RAI Sport, via FCInterNews, the 30-year-old’s representative Federico Pastorello explained that the player’s priority is to stay at Inter, but also that there are other clubs interested in his signature particularly in Spain.

De Vrij’s current contract with Inter is set to run out at the end of June, and it is far from clear whether the player and club will agree a new deal or not.

The Nerazzurri have been reported to be keen to extend the Dutchman’s contract rather than lose him on a free transfer at the end of the current season, and the player’s agent feels that this is the case.

Pastorello was asked about the situation of de Vrij’s fellow Inter defender Milan Skriniar, and the agent replied that “I don’t know if Skriniar will go to PSG by the end of the January transfer window, but what I can tell you is that Inter’s directors have called me recently to speed up contract talks with de Vrij, one of my clients.”

He continued of the former Lazio and Feyenoord player that “He wants to stay in Milan but there are also other clubs, especially Spanish ones, who’ve been asking about him for some time.”
