Inter’s forwards failed to affect the game in yesterday’s shock 0-1 Serie A loss to Empoli, with Joaquin Correa and Romelu Lukaku particularly disappointing.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that Correa looked anonymous whilst Lukaku hardly looked like himself.

Correa was given the chance from the start against Empoli, but the Argentine did little to fire Inter’s attack even well before the team found themselves at a numerical disadvantage due to Milan Skriniar’s red card.

Meanwhile, Lukaku was sent on for the final fifteen minutes or so as the Nerazzurri desperately chased the game.

The Belgian may have been expected to add the spark that his team had been lacking all match in attack.

However, the striker instead looked like a shadow of his best, and just like the other forwards during the match he barely carved out anything in terms of chances.
