Inter defender Milan Skriniar was sent off for two yellow cards during the first half of yesterday evening’s 0-1 Serie A loss to Empoli at the San Siro.
Sendings-off this early in matches have been rare for the Nerazzurri, and in fact it has been just under five years since they’ve had a player sent off in the first half of a Serie A match.
As football statistics account Opta noted in a tweet, the last Inter player to be given his marching orders in the first half of a league match was midfielder Matias Vecino.
They tweeted, “Before Milan Skriniar, the last Inter player to have been sent off during the first half of a Serie A match was Matias Vecino against Juventus on April 28, 2018.”
