Referee Andrea Capuano was correct to send Inter defender Milan Skriniar off in yesterday’s Serie A loss to Empoli.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who argue that whilst the official looked nervous there was little arguing with his decision to send the Slovakian off for two yellow cards.

For the Gazzetta, Capuano risked losing control of proceedings at times during yesterday evening’s Serie A clash between Inter and Empoli.

However, the official did look to get the major decisions correct in the view of the newspaper.

The most attention will naturally be given to the two yellow cards given the Skriniar, and in the view of the Gazzetta Capuano got these spot on.

The 27-year-old was late in a challenge on Empoli right-back Tyronne Ebuehi, for which he was correctly shown a yellow card, and then he was booked again for a challenge that was late and high and made contact with the head of Empoli striker Francesco Caputo.
