Former Inter and current Rapid Bucaresti midfielder Xian Emmers feels that playing for the Nerazzurri under Luciano Spalletti helped him improve his game a lot.
Speaking to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, the 23-year-old looked back on his time playing for Inter, and named the former Nerazzurri and current Napoli boss as someone he learned from a lot, in addition to former midfielder Radja Nainggolan.
Belgian midfielder Emmers spent several years in Inter’s youth system after arriving at the club from Genk in 2015.
The midfielder made several loan spells, including to Inter’s opponents for Saturday Cremonese, whilst he also spent some time with the first team albeit he did not make much of an impact.
This did not mean that it was not a productive experience for Emmers, however.
The Belgian told FCInterNews about how a couple of figure in particular had an influence on him.
Asked who had the biggest impact on his growth at Inter, Emmers replied “Nainggolan, who’s Belgian like me.”
“I also learned a lot from coach Spalletti, however.”
Asked if he could see ever returning to Inter, Emmers replied “Yes, but I have to do things properly, putting into practice what I’ve learned along the way.”
“The possibility is there, but for now I have to focus on the present.”
