Inter midfielder Marcelo Brozovic has not recovered in time to be available for the Nerazzurri’s Coppa Italia match against Atalanta on Tuesday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport, the 30-year-old has stepped up his comeback from an injury suffered during Croatia’s 3-0 defeat to Argentina in the 2022 FIFA World Cup semi-final in Qatar in December.

However, Brozovic is still not fit enough to feature in the first team and will be left out of coach Simone Inzaghi’s squad for the match against the Orobici at the Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.

The former Dinamo Zagreb midfielder has returned to group training but there is a reluctance to rush him back from the left calf injury sustained in Doha.

Brozovic could make his return next weekend though, with Inter set to face rivals AC Milan in the Derby della Madonnina in Serie A, and there is a hope that the Croatian star could at least be included on the bench.
