Inter had strikers Lautaro Martinez and Edin Dzeko to thank as they overcame bottom club Cremonese 2-1 in Serie A yesterday.

As reported in today’s newspaper edition of Corriere della Sera, the attacking duo dragged the Nerazzurri over the line thanks to Martinez’s two goals, with the latter coming from an assist from Dzeko.

Inter had fallen to a 1-0 defeat to Empoli on Monday and were in danger of another embarrassment when they trailed to an early David Okereke goal, but Martinez spared their blushes.

The newspaper argued that Inter were unconvincing and lacked the necessary intensity in the game, despite deserving to win, and that the two strikers had made the difference.

Martinez was awarded an 8 in the newspaper’s player ratings, whilst Dzeko earned 7.

However, it is warned that the Nerazzurri must step up their performances due to the calibre of opposition they are set to face in the coming week.

Firstly, Atalanta await them in the Coppa Italia on Tuesday, before the Derby della Madonnina against AC Milan in Serie A next Sunday.
