Inter defender Milan Skriniar has caused surprise at the club after publicly announcing that he is set to join Paris Saint-Germain.

According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla, and via FCInter1908.it, the Nerazzurri were not expecting Skriniar to make any statements on his future, and were caught unawares when he reportedly spoke to Slovakian news outlet Futbalsfz.sk to declare he had found an agreement.

Indeed, Pedulla claimed that Inter were aware that the defender had reached an agreement to move to PSG when his contract expires in the summer, and asked him to confirm that this was the case.

Whilst Skriniar did reveal that he had decided to leave for Ligue 1, Inter were not expecting him to go public with his decision yet, and have been left surprised at his comments in his homeland.

“Inter had asked Skriniar a couple of days ago to confirm his deal with PSG, which the Slovak defender duly did,” Pedulla said.

“It was a matter of respect towards the group,. Inter were surprised by the unauthorised statements he allegedly made to the Slovak website. Statements that Skriniar denied having made.”

Skriniar joined Inter from Sampdoria in 2017 and has made 242 appearances for the Nerazzurri, scoring 11 goals and helping them win the Serie A title in 2021.
