Italian journalist Paolo Condo feels that Inter are the only team in Serie A who have shown anything like the form that Napoli have in Serie A since the return from the winter break at the start of the month.

Writing in his column in today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper La Repubblica, via FCInterNews, the journalist argued that whilst league leaders the Partenopei remain in a class of their own, the Nerazzurri have shown the mentality to at least try to keep up.

Inter have to reckon with the fact that, even after they produced a statement win over Napoli at the San Siro in their very first match back from the World Cup, they have only fallen further behind the Partenopei in the weeks since.

Stumbles against the likes of Monza and Empoli in the league have taken the gloss off of that win against the league leaders, and off of a win over city rivals AC Milan in the Supercoppa Italiana.

However, even with these major struggles for consistency, Condo suggests that the Nerazzurri have at least shown that their heads are in it which he feels that the Rossoneri have done.

“Napoli are in a class of their own right now,” Condo writes, “but Inter have shown that their heads remain in it and that they can come at least close to the league leaders.”

“The Milan derby next weekend will tell a lot about the two teams’ seasons to come,” he continues, “not just in the league but also with both having big Champions League ties to navigate against Porto and Tottenham Hotspur respectively.”
