Inter midfielder Roberto Gagliardini is set to remain at the Nerazzurri until the end of the current season when his contract expires, despite the interest of Premier League side Nottingham Forest.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the interest in the 28-year-old from Forest has come to nothing, and that he plans to stay the rest of the season and then leave on a free transfer in June.
Forest have been linked with a move for Gagliardini during the January window, with the newly-promoted club reportedly inquiring about the possibility of bringing the former Atalanta midfielder to the English top flight this month.
A number of clubs both in Italy and abroad have shown an interest in the 28-year-old, but Forest had been keen to not wait until the end of his current contract.
However, for the player’s part, he is happy to see out his contract at Inter, where he has received playing time in recent matches.
Meanwhile, the Nerazzurri do not want to lose the midfielder before the end of the month as he sill has an important role to play in the squad, and Forest have backed off in their interest.
