La Liga club Villarreal have offered Inter defender Stefan de Vrij a two-year contract to replace Raul Albiol next season.
This according to Italian news outlet FCInterNews, who report that the 30-year-old will take the coming weeks to reflect on whether to accept the Spanish side’s offer as they are keen to sign him after Albiol announced his retirement.
De Vrij has an offer on the table from Inter for a two-year contract extension, but is also the subject of transfer interest if he decides to leave at the end of his deal.
Villarreal defender Albiol has decided to hang up his boots, and the Yellow Submarine are very keen on de Vrij as the replacement for the 37-year-old former Napoli and Real Madrid man.
The Spaniards have offered de Vrij a two-year contract worth around the €4 million net per season that he currently earns, whilst the Nerazzurri want to lower his wages on a new deal.
