Inter’s directors have made the decision that defender Milan Skriniar will not wear the captain’s armband after the drama that surrounded his contract situation and links with Paris Saint-Germain throughout the month of January.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that there is no chance of the 27-year-old being Inter captain in any match after the club directors made their decision clear.

Even as recently as his last appearance for Inter, the disastrous match against Empoli in Serie A, Skriniar began the match as Inter captain on the night.

The Slovakian has been wearing the armband regularly since club captain Samir Handanovic was displaced from the starting eleven by Andre Onana.

This has been despite the fact that the former Sampdoria has been yet to agree a contract extension all season, with negotiations heading south for a number of weeks now.

However, from now on, there is no longer any chance that Skriniar will wear the armband again.

The Slovakian remains an Inter player for the rest of the season after the Nerazzurri declined the offer from Paris Saint-Germain to sign him before the January transfer window slammed shut.

However, given that the player has made crystal clear that he does not want to stay and prefers to join the French champions, the club directors have taken a firm stance that he will not wear the armband again.
