Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi once again showed that he is the man for cup competitions with his team’s display against Atalanta in the Coppa Italia yesterday evening.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who praise the coach for getting his approach right to produce a “tough and balanced” performance on the pitch to see off La Dea and reach the semifinals.

Inter have once again triumphed with a controlled 1-0 win against high-quality and in-form opposition.

The Nerazzurri looked to have the right balance between defense and attack against La Dea, the Gazzetta argues, with Inzaghi getting his tactics right on the evening.

No player illustrated this more than Matteo Darmian, who filled in expertly for the absent Milan Skriniar on the right side of a back three.

The 33-year-old stepped out of defense when he had the chance, most notably by scoring the game’s only goal, but was also disciplined with his positioning, as the Nerazzurri kept yet another clean sheet against a team who have been the most free-scoring in Italy since the winter break.
