The two Champions League round of sixteen matches against Porto could play a key role in deciding whether Romelu Lukaku stays at Inter past the end of the current season.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who suggest that the round of sixteen tie could be Lukaku’s “now or never” moment to convince the Nerazzurri to extend his loan from Chelsea.

Lukaku has not lived up to expectations since his shock return to Inter on loan from Chelsea just one season after making the big money move to London.

However, the Nerazzurri have not given up hope, and still have faith that the Belgian will come good before the end of the season.

The club are waiting to see if Lukaku will take one of his opportunities to finally show that he can find form, and if they are satisfied then they will work to negotiate an extension of his loan from Chelsea.

The round of sixteen tie against Porto in the Champions League is being looked at as a perfect opportunity for the 29-year-old to showcase his qualities, whilst it will be a tie in which the Nerazzurri are likely to need a player like him to make an impact.
