Inter are expecting that defender Stefan de Vrij will give his response to their contract extension offer by the end of the current month.

This according to today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri have set a February deadline for the Dutchman to deliver his response, amid transfer interest from teams in the Eredivisie, the Premier League, and La Liga.

Inter’s contract offer of a new two-year deal worth essentially the same wages as de Vrij is currently on has been on the table for some weeks now.

The former Lazio defender is thinking about it, but also considering the interest of teams in England and the Netherlands in signing him on a free transfer, whilst among Spanish teams, Villarreal are particularly keen.

According to Tuttosport, the Nerazzurri have given de Vrij a few more weeks to think about it, but are expecting a response by the end of February.
