Inter want to get a contract extension for defender Alessandro Bastoni wrapped up very soon as they want to make sure that Manchester City do not move for the 23-year-old.

This according to Italian news outlet TuttoMercatoWeb, who report that the Nerazzurri have already held meetings with the defender’s agent as they are not keen to let him go into the final season of his deal as they did with Milan Skriniar.

Bastoni’s current contract with Inter is set to run out at the end of June 2024, but the Nerazzurri are not wasting any time in getting a new deal agreed with the former Atalanta and Parma player.

The Nerazzurri are aware that Man City consider Bastoni to be a major target, and they want to make sure that the Premier League giants do not sense an opportunity to swoop and sign the defender.

Moreover, Inter have learned the hard way with Milan Skriniar what can happen if a top player is allowed to go into the final season of their deal without an extension.

Accordingly, TMW reports, the Nerazzurri have already held several meetings with Bastoni’s agent and are aiming to get a new contract agreed as soon as they can.
