Inter striker Lautaro Martinez will be hoping to further improve his already exemplary scoring record against AC Milan in the derby clash scheduled for this Sunday.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who note that the 25-year-old is already seventh among Nerazzurri scorers in the Milan derby, with the chance to climb even higher.

Not all of Martinez’s memories of the Milan derby will be positive ones, as the Argentine had a crucial penalty saved by Ciprian Tatarusanu in the first league meeting between the city rivals last season.

However, the Argentine’s overall haul in the fixture has been nothing short of outstanding.

Martinez has already scored a total of seven goals against the Rossoneri since joining Inter in 2018, which puts him behind Roberto Boninsegna, Alessandro Altobelli, and Enrico Candiani on eight.

On nine goals is Benito Lorenzi, whilst Istvan Nyers has scored eleven goals for Inter in the fixture.

Top of the list of Nerazzurri scorers in the derby is the legendary Giuseppe Meazza, who scored twelve goals against the Rossoneri in an Inter shirt.

If Martinez scores just once on Sunday, he will climb level with Boninsegna, Altobelli, and Candiani.
