Inter defender Milan Skriniar met with the rest of the Nerazzurri squad in the hours before Tuesday’s Coppa Italia match against Atalanta to explain his reasons for deciding to leave.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the 27-year-old reassured his teammates that he will not be distracted and will give his all for the rest of the season.

Inter have been rocked by the confirmation that Skriniar intends to leave and join Paris Saint-Germain rather than extending a contract extension.

None of the player, the team, or the club want to risk the off-pitch distractions spilling over onto the pitch.

Yesterday, Skriniar met with the Curva Nord ultras group to try and give his side of the story so that fans understand his reasons for deciding to leave.

Before this, the Gazzetta reports, the Slovakian had already met with his teammates, where he explained his choice to leave in the summer.

According to the newspaper, the meeting with the squad took place before Tuesday’s match against Atalanta, and the former Sampdoria defender made clear that he wants to finish the season in the best way possible.
