Inter wingback Matteo Darmian has extended his contract with the Nerazzurri until the end of June 2024.

This is announced by the club in a post on their official site, whilst the salary terms of the one-year extension with the option of a further season are reported by Italian football finance news outlet Calcio e Finanza.

Darmian’s previous deal ran out at the end of June of this year, but the club have been working to extend the former Manchester United and Torino man’s contract past the end of the current campaign.

As Calcio e Finanza report, the one-year extension contains the option of a further season, which would potentially the 33-year-old staying until the end of June 2025.

The football finance outlet notes that Darmian will earn €2.5 million net per season on the new deal, with his wages costing the Nerazzurri €3.3 million net per season.

Darmian joined Inter from Parma in the summer of 2020, winning the Serie A title in his first season at the club before winning the Supercoppa Italiana and the Coppa Italia in his second campaign, and the Supercoppa Italiana so far this time around.

The 33-year-old has made a total of 91 appearances for the Nerazzurri in all competitions to this point, scoring eight goals in the process.
