Both Simone Inzaghi and Stefano Pioli will be sensing the urgency to reassert themselves in the Milan derby between Inter and AC Milan this Sunday, after some of the criticism that both have been receiving.

This is the view in today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, who note that for both coaches the derby could be a virtually must-win match in terms of dispelling doubts.

On paper, Pioli would be the coach with greater impetus to try and immediately regain momentum for his team than Inzaghi.

Whilst the Nerazzurri’s form since the return from the winter break has been erratic, their city rivals’ form has been nothing short of woeful since they let a two-goal lead slip in the dying minutes of their Serie A clash with Roma last month.

However, in truth Inzaghi is also under no shortage of scrutiny, as every time the former Lazio boss produces a statement win or a run of good results, a disappointing period that puts him right back under the microscope is never too far around the corner.

In both cases, the Nerazzurri and Rossoneri coaches will feel that if they can mastermind a win in the derby this weekend, then a lot of the pressure will be off of them.

However, in the event of a loss or even a draw, either of the two coaches will undoubtedly find themselves facing more criticism than ever.
