Italian journalist Marco Bellinazzo believes that it is very likely that Inter will end up making some significant sales during the summer transfer window.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster TVPlay, via FCInterNews, the Italian business journalist explained that the financial situation at the Nerazzurri makes it quite likely that at least one or two big names are likely to be on their way for large transfer fees ahead of next season.

Inter are not strangers to making big summer sales over the past couple windows.

The Nerazzurri sold both Achraf Hakimi and Romelu Lukaku for big fees in the summer of 2021, whilst last summer the likes of Milan Skriniar and Alessandro Bastoni were linked with departures even though in the end both stayed.

The underlying reasons that have caused these to be the case have hardly gone away, as the Nerazzurri are still looking to meet ambitious financial goals in light of their ongoing difficulties.

Accordingly, Bellinazzo expects, it should not come as any surprise if Inter end up letting one or two big names leave this summer.

“The Nerazzurri still have to recover from a record deficit racked up during the years of COVID,” he noted, “they’ve signed an agreement with UEFA to meet certain parameters, namely the settlement signed in August.”

“Therefore, the trend has to be towards reducing the debt and the wage bill, in line with the agreement that they signed with UEFA,” he continued.

“There will likely be the sale of one or more big names during the summer, namely those players with the highest salaries, I think the idea will be to try to sell at the very least those players who are no longer considered central to the team.”
