Former Inter, AC Milan, Juventus, and Torino striker Aldo Serena believes that heading into tomorrow’s Milan derby match, it is the Nerazzurri who look to be the form team.

Speaking to Italian news outlet MilanNews, Serena contrasted the recent fortunes of the two rivals as they prepare to face off for the third time in all competitions this season.

Inter’s form in January has been far from perfect, as the Nerazzurri dropped five points unexpectedly in matches against Monza and Empoli.

However, statement wins against the likes of Napoli in Serie A, Atalanta in the Coppa Italia, and the Rossoneri themselves in the Supercoppa Italiana have given the Nerazzurri a lot to hang onto as they head into the derby tomorrow.

Milan, by contrast, appear to be in virtual freefall, having struggled badly in all competitions since they squandered a two-goal lead late on in a 2-2 draw with Roma in Serie A.

“Inter come into it in better form physically, technically, and mentally,” Serena said.

“They’re also finding themselves alternating brilliant moments with slip-ups, but I think that they still show in this way that they’re the better team right now,” he continued.

“Look at the wins against Napoli and Milan, followed by dropped points against Monza and Empoli.”

“Still,” the former striker argued, “they’ve shown that right now they’re a better team than Milan, just that sometimes they have nervous moments.”
