Inter are aiming to get things moving along swiftly in contract extension talks with defender Alessandro Bastoni as they don’t want to end up in the same situation as they have done with Milan Skriniar.

This according to today’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the desire not to have the 23-year-old go into the final season of his deal as Skriniar did has meant that the Nerazzurri are wasting no time in negotiations.

Bastoni’s current contract runs out at the end of June 2024.

There is no question on Inter’s part that extending the former Atalanta and Parma defender’s deal beyond then is a priority.

Moreover, Inter have learned the hard way what can happen when a contract situation is left too late after they look to have lost hold of Skriniar who will leave on a free transfer.

Accordingly, the Corriere reports, the Nerazzurri are planning to ramp up talks with Bastoni and his representatives soon, well before the end of the current season.
