Italian journalist Fabio Caressa feels that the form that Inter striker Lautaro Martinez has hit this season has been remarkable.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Radio Deejay, via FCInter1908, the journalist also gave the view that fellow striker Romelu Lukaku can once again find his best, but that some adjustment is still needed whilst he requires more consistent service from his teammates.

Martinez and Lukaku have had somewhat contrasting fortunes this season for Inter.

Whilst the Argentine has been virtually ever-present in the lineup, and has been the team’s top scorer so far this season across all competitions, the Belgian has been held back by injuries and fitness problems.

Moreover, the sense is that the Inter that Lukaku returned to is not the same one that he left in the summer of 2021, and he has yet to truly build a new understanding with his teammates under coach Simone Inzaghi.

“Lautaro is having a crazy season,” Caressa said, “and I like that he doesn’t speak much.”

“Lukaku has yet to fully adjust to this style of play,” he continued, “before, he would always attack the space in behind, now he stays deeper and participates more in the possession.”

“If they get him firing in this style of play, it can bring him back almost to the level that he was at under Conte, but first they’ll have to get more service to him.”
