Former Inter midfielder Stephane Dalmat feels that the only thing that will be significant in this evening’s Serie A derby clash with AC Milan will be getting the win.

Speaking on his Instagram story, via FCInterNews, the Frenchman stressed the importance of playing for bragging rights in Milan and defending the shirt in one of the biggest fixtures not just in the Nerazzurri’s season but for all of Italian football.

Inter and Milan will both be desperate for a win from this evening’s match, and the standings in the Serie A table only make up for a small part of the reason why.

Both the Nerazzurri and the Rossoneri consider the derby to be virtually the most important match in the context of their respective seasons, with the sense that it is a match that defines the entire tone of the rivalry.

Dalmat gave the view that “The derby is always special.”

“We want to be the team of the city of Milan,” he continued, “and today we can prove it.”

“Tonight we will play in a full stadium, I’m sure the fans will be electric and will do everything they can to help the team.”

“Only thing that matters is a win, and getting in form ahead of the Champions League as well,” he continued.

“They have to do everything they can to honour the shirt, and I hope that they can do well, as always Forza Inter.”
