Inter striker Lautaro Martinez feels that there was no question that the Nerazzurri were the better team during their Serie A derby clash against AC Milan.

Speaking to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia after the match, via FCInterNews, the Argentine also stated that he feels that he and his teammates will still do everything they can to try and catch up to league leaders Napoli in the Serie A title race.

Martinez was Inter’s match-winner against the Rossoneri in the derby, as the 25-year-old’s first-half header from a corner proved to be the match’s only goal.

However, over the ninety minutes, this scoreline if anything flattered Milan, as each Inter player did their part to put in a fairly dominant display against a struggling Rossoneri team.

For his part, Martinez felt that Inter really put their stamp on the match right from the off, and deserve to dream after that performance.

“We had a good feeling since this morning,” the striker said, “we were completely focused on set pieces, and we showed from the first minutes that we were in charge.”

“Before the match there was a lot of talks about Milan’s formation change, but we were only focused on ourselves,” he went on.

“Inter were in charge in the Supercoppa match as well, and we proved it again today.”

Of his tactical fit in Inter’s attack, Martinez said that “I’m ready to do anything, to play with one, two, or three strikers.”

“Edin likes to drop deeper and get on the ball, Romelu plays more by trying to stretch things, but it doesn’t matter to me,” he added.

Martinez added that “There are still a lot of points separating us from Napoli, but we’ll still have a go at the title and then hope that Napoli drop points.”
