Inter do a lot of their best work down their left side, with the tactical interplay between the trio of defender Alessandro Bastoni, wingback Federico Dimarco, and midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan having become key to the Nerazzurri.

This is highlighted in today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who highlight the chemistry that has emerged from the three that has allowed Inter to build some of their most dangerous attacks down their left flank.

Inter’s style of play under Simone Inzaghi is heavily reliant on using player movements to create temporary numerical overloads that allow easy circulation of the ball to bypass opposition defense.

Starting from the back, Bastoni has been absolutely key to this strategy, as the 23-year-old by far the most aggressive member of the Nerazzurri’s back three typically with his marauding runs making him almost a winger in some moments.

Bastoni’s quality on the ball has made him an ideal player to combine with teammates from back to front down the left flank for Inter, and he has two able partners in the form of Dimarco and Mkhitaryan.

The former has emerged as a key player in Inter’s starting eleven this season, both for his passing range in buildup and his dangerous deliveries into the box.

Meanwhile, Mkhitaryan has become the regular starter on the left of the midfield trio, and his understanding of movements to make to crate passing triangles with Bastoni and Dimarco have been key.

All three of the pair have been proficient at passing through pressure, and at setting one another up for a dangerous run or cross into the penalty area.
