AC Milan winger Junior Messias could start as part of a midfield trio for the Rossoneri in this evening’s Milan derby clash with Inter in Serie A.

This according to yesterday’s print edition of Rome-based newspaper Corriere dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Brazilian is a candidate to start in midfield as Milan coach Stefano Pioli is set to switch to a 4-3-3 formation.

Rossoneri coach Pioli is likely to switch from his customary 4-2-3-1 formation to a 4-3-3 with a midfield trio, in order to try and have more support and solidity in the centre of the pitch.

Sandro Tonali is set to start as the deepest midfielder of the three, whilst on his left Rade Krunic is expected to play as the box-to-box midfielder or mezzala.

On the right, it is not yet certain who Pioli will start, with Aster Vranckx and Tommaso Pobega candidates.

According to the Corriere, however, Messias is also a possibility, despite the 31-year-old former Crotone man usually playing in a wide or attacking midfield role.
