Inter head coach Simone Inzaghi feels that there is virtually nothing that his team could have done better in their Serie A win over AC Milan yesterday evening.

Speaking to InterTV after the match, via FCInterNews, the coach stressed how the Nerazzurri’s performance was near-perfect, and the ideal way to finish off a month that has seen the team play many difficult matches.

One month ago, Inter returned from more than a month away from the pitch for the World Cup winter break with a 1-0 win over Napoli at the San Siro, and this time around it was city rivals AC Milan who they beat by the same scoreline.

In between were wins over the Rossoneri in the Supercoppa and Atalanta in the Coppa Italia quarterfinals among other victories, although also the notable blemishes of a draw away to Monza and a shock loss to Empoli at the San Siro.

Against Milan, however, Inzaghi were back to being very close to their best.

“We came into the match from a tough run of fixtures that started with Napoli on January 4 and finished tonight on February 5, we need to recover our physical and mental energy, we played the last month about as well as could be expected after a two-month break,” the coach said.

“We played a first half that bordered on perfection,” he continued, “I say bordered on because we needed to score more than one goal and so the match remained in the balance.”

“But it was a great performance and I’m satisfied.”

“We had an incredible first half, then in the second half we only conceded the first shot in the 75th minute,” he added.
