Inter are aiming to hold the decisive talks in contract extension talks with midfielder Hakan Calhanoglu shortly after their Champions League round of sixteen first leg match against Porto later this month.

This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInterNews, who report that the Nerazzurri want to get talks wrapped up as soon as possible so that there’s no risk of the 28-year-old going into the final season of his deal.

Calhanoglu once again demonstrated how vital he has become to Inter with another excellent performance in midfield and an assist against his former side AC Milan in the derby.

Keeping hold of the Turkish international well past the end of his current deal, which is set to expire at the end of June 2024, is therefore a priority for Inter.

The Nerazzurri want to accelerate the talks decisively, and an important meeting is set to be held not long after the team play Porto later this month.
