Roma midfieldere Nicolo Zaniolo is getting closer and closer to agreeing a deal to join Turkish side Galatasaray, with Inter set to receive a 15% sell-on fee as part of any sale.

This according to Italian news outlet Gazzetta.it, who report that representatives of the Istanbul-based club are currently in Italy where they are working to get a deal over the line for the 23-year-old before the Turkish league transfer window closes shut.

Zaniolo is no longer part of the plans at Roma, but the former Nerazzurri midfielder did not leave the Giallorossi before the end of the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old could still have an exit route from the Italian capital, however, as the Turkish league’s transfer window is open until Wednesday.

Galatasaray are keen on signing Zaniolo, whilst Fenerbahce are also trying to enter the race to sign him at the last minute.

According to the Gazzetta, however, it is Galatasaray who are much closer to signing the midfielder between the two Istanbul rivals.

The newspaper reports that the talks are now underway in Italy for a transfer to get wrapped up before the Turkish league transfer window closes.

Should Zaniolo be sold before Wednesday, then Inter would be entitled to 15% of the transfer fee involved, per a clause in the deal that saw Zaniolo join Roma from the Nerazzurri’s youth system, as part of a deal that saw midfielder Radja Nainggolan go the other way.
